Personal notes
Invitation to Dinner
When I’m working in my studio, I feel as if I’m cooking in an imaginary kitchen.
I think that printmaking and cooking are related. Printmaking has its own rules, its own “kitchen”. It demands discipline in every stage of the work, knowledge and combination of materials.
The right mixture of techniques and the marriage of colors, can give a magnificent result.
I’m playing with tools and colors, creating pots, cups, saucers and plates, telling “stories from the kitchen”.
My grandmother’s plaid wallpaper and my mother’s kitchen have both been an inspiration to me, so I print rough, old, worn out cooking pots and pans, in front of an imaginary old kitchen, full of sweet memories and tastes.
Whether preparing a meal or printing and engraving, there are times one can be careful and there are times one can be relaxed…both artistic endeavors share the same concentration and the same glorious abandon.
The artistic results are the products of such “recipes”
Kitchen and Art, Art and Kitchen, bounded together.
Feelings of pleasure
Fantasy creating, cooking.
These recipes are interpretations and creations of a humble servant and student of the art.
